The New Marketing Hotsheet

Making your website rank highly in the search engines is a very competitive task. It involves dedication and close monitoring by webmasters, whilst every now and then the search engines alter the way they rank websites sending webmasters back to the drawing board.
Websites are constantly being assessed by search engines, in terms of content, link popularity, etc, as it is the search engines ultimate goal to provide the most relevant search results for internet users.
One of the most traditional methods used to boost search engine ranking is by reciprocal linking from your website to others, with those websites in turn linking back to your website. The practice of generating links to a website is known as "link building" with the ultimate goal being to increase a website's "link popularity". However, the search engines are increasingly favouring sites which naturally evolve over time. This means that they are looking for more "natural links".
One of the most effective ways of obtaining natural links is by writing and submitting relevant articles. The submissions of articles to article directories and other article sites will result in links back to your website, but without you having to link back to them. These one-way links are much more powerful than traditional reciprocated links.
These links feature in what is known as the "author's bio", which includes some information about the author's background and where you can include a link back to your website. Standard links, such as www.yourdomain.com, can also be included in the main body of the article too further increasing link popularity.
However, finding and registering with directories requires a lot of patience and effort. It is often a far more time consuming process than one anticipates. Once you have found and registered with the directories (of which there in excess of one hundred) you then have to enter the article details, e.g., the title, a summary, the article itself, the author's bio box, etc
